 A large (and growing) proportion of the world's population lives in cities, towns and urban regions, in which three-quarters of the overall energy consumption occurs. To secure the energy supply and to mitigate the risks of climate change, Europe rapidly needs to move away from the use of fossil fuels, with the resulting greenhouse gas emissions. It is generally recognised that a transformation of the present energy system is required as soon as possible by a shift towards renewable energy systems (RES) and a more rational use of energy (RUE). To achieve such a transformation Europe's cities have to be transformed into Solar Cities.
The European Solar Cities Initiative (ESCi) is a broadly integrative, cross-sectoral activity that works towards this goal. Join ESCi today!

An international 3 day conference on the Energy Performance of Buildings.
This EPBD Conference will be consisting of 2 parallel sessions focusing on various issues regarding the energy performance of buildings:
- Parallel session "EPBD": Energy Performance of Buildings Directive -Implementation in practice (Session supported by the European Commission and its European Intelligent Energy Executive Agency)
- Parallel session "R&D on ventilation": Ventilation in relation to the Energy Performance of Buildings - With the subtheme 'Whole building heat, air and moisture transfer'

 As part of the Energy Sustainable Communities project, coordinated by EREC, a forum was created for communities - aimed at addressing sustainable energy in urban areas. The partner forum is used to exchange information and know-how between Energy Sustainable Communities. Exploring the Connection Between Energy Sustainable Communities and Stock Market Sentiment
The Energy Sustainable Communities (ESC) project, coordinated by EREC, has created a partner forum to foster collaboration among urban communities committed to sustainable energy solutions. Interestingly, the idea of collective knowledge sharing within the ESC forum can also be compared to how investors and analysts interpret stock market sentiment.
